Is there a blue book for trailers?

No single, universal "blue book" covers every trailer the way Kelley Blue Book covers cars, but a few specialized guides exist depending on trailer type, and none of them replace a professional appraisal when you need a defensible number.

For travel trailers, fifth wheels, and other RV-style units, J.D. Power's RV pricing data (the successor to NADA Guides) is the closest thing to an industry-standard reference. Commercial trailers have a separate resource, the Commercial Trailer Blue Book from Price Digests, which tracks values by VIN and model year. Horse trailers have their own dedicated guide as well, based on MSRP and dealer sales data. Utility trailers, enclosed cargo trailers, dump trailers, and custom or modified units generally have no blue book at all, since production runs, options, and condition vary too widely for a standardized guide to price them accurately.

Even where a blue book exists, it typically produces a generic estimate based on year, make, and model, not an opinion of value that accounts for your specific trailer's actual condition, modifications, mileage or usage, and current local market activity. That gap matters most when the number needs to hold up: for insurance claims, loan collateral, estate or probate filings, IRS Form 8283 donations, or divorce and litigation matters, a blue book printout usually will not satisfy the reviewing party.
